Grow Creative Event at The Storey, Lancaster

On the 17th November last year Ed Waring and I of Hope and Social sat on a music industry panel and were very much flying the flag of independence. The panel also featured:

Gary McClarnan – Manchester based owner of the management company reponsible for Sasha and Mr Scruff, Vice-President of the UK Music Managers Forum and owner of a number of music-based businesses.

Nian Brindle – Manager of The Heartbreaks, Morecambe’s rising stars and the biggest buzz band at this year’s international music industry showcase, In The City.

Anna Esslemont – From Yukka Records – Vocalist, violinist and songwriter from Uiscedwr, an amazingly talented award winning, dynamic folk trio releasing music from their own label.

and was hosted by the lovely Simon Harrison of Mushroom Concepts

So at long last… here’s the video

You may be able to see me gritting my teeth at the end while Gary espouses and evangelises about the [cough ahem] good work that the Featured Artist Coalition do. You can read what I think about that here, had I not had to get set up for the Hope and Social show that followed, I’d not have held my tongue. Ah well. Good session otherwise, though painful to see oneself on video whilst not holding a guitar.
