6K Vision Residential Weekend Pt 1

02/02/2010

A couple of months ago I attended a music and music business residential at Marrick Priory organised by and with the Culture-Shock team from Northallerton, and I’ve just found the video up online. The 6K team has some really great people including… Tom Bramley, Mike Heaton, Roo Pigott, Matt Burrows, Mike Gatto and John Cross.

So, here’s the video showing off some of the weekend’s workshops (including songwriting, mentoring, and music business/social media skills) as well as the reactions of some of the young people we work with. I love the energy of the 6K staff, and of the young people on the video.

6K’s a great project and performs a great deal of good in terms of youth and outreach work for young people involved in music. I hope you enjoy the video and that it gives you a real insight into some of the work we do.

I’ll post part two tomorrow.

Rich – this looks fantastic. Just up my son Tom’s street. When are they running the next one and what’s the criteria for going?

Cheers Rachel. They run residentials not quite so often, though they are opening up applications to their roster in March. If you email Matt Burrows of 6K Vision he’ll get you out tyhe relevant details.

great lil blog rich! – 6k is a crucial and as you put it in the second part of this vid, sadly rare kind of program… I am now a fully independent musician; producing, playing live, writing, collaborating and mentoring at 6k and I started out as one of the young bands a few years ago!

its a successful project and I hope that one day you’ll see this kind of thing in schools!

anyone who wants to natter about what 6k can offer please get in touch!
