New strings to the bow
I have been asked to guest blog for two great sites; Creative Deconstruction for the wonderful Refe Tuma, and Media 140 for the effervescent Dee Jackson. I actually have three posts worth of thoughts in writing (and in waiting); one for each of the above, and one for here. I’m just trying to format my thoughts so that each post is cohesive, concise, and coherent. I could do with an editor if I’m honest. My thoughts tend to come out in spurts, in bursts of thought rather than neat paragraphs.
Recently I’ve started working with two bands through North Yorkshire County Council’s 6K project – a great project for helping young aspiring artists, in terms of providing musical support/direction, music industry & web strategy help and recording/AV support (photos, vids etc). The bands are:
The Shadracks – who have a single coming out in December. Their site is their hub, and has feeds from their twitter accounts, wordpress blog, youtube etc. Have a shufty! (Wish I could program like Doug can!)
I intend to pit the two bands against each other in a “Best web presence” competition. Should be doing some recording with all these guys soon too, so keep your peepers peeled.
Yesterday, spent a good morning and early afternoon with Meadows Care of Rochdale, a specialist series of schools and residential single/dual occupancy care homes. Looks like we’re going to be working towards a “Real Band” (insert Rock Band poster, with “Rock” sprayed out and replaced by the word “Real”). This, as per the coaching/mentoring with Rosie and The Shadracks, will be working towards the Arts Award, a nationally recognised and accredited qualification for the arts. With Meadows Care, I expect we’ll be working towards recordings and a concert. All good people there, and very excited to be involved.
Off to Nidderdale again shortly to deliver a Rock School for young people there… busy busy!
Now then, if anyone fancies helping me photoshop a poster for the “RealBand” stuff, please don’t hesitate to contact me or comment below.
